19th Dynasty, reigned 1279 – 1212 B.C.
Ramses II who reigned over Egypt for 67 years! A smart war strategist and a great builder, he was the one who built the great temple of Abu Simbel and the Ramesseum. He was well known for his bravery in the war campaigns against the Hittites around Kadesh in modern day Syria. Ramses II had a large Harem but his most known wife was Queen Nefertari, a beautiful Egyptian queen! His mummy is well preserved and can be seen at the Cairo Museum in Egypt. Some believe it was Ramses II who put Hebrews to hard labor during the time of Moses, where the biblical Book of Exodus tells us how Moses delivered the Hebrews to the Promised Land across the desert and red sea, against the will of Ramses, although till now there is no archaeological evidence of such events!
